Paper hearts

Valentine's day

Many of us celebrates Valentine's day that falls on February 14th.

I remember when i was in high school we used to draw hearts on a card board and color it with red and with different sizes. Each one will define his drawn heart. And he /she choose to dedicate the heart to his/her to anyone whom he liked and loved. This was one of the things i learned about Valentines.

Aside from of course the common practice , dating or courting. Everyone knows how they will define this occasion by many means.

People marks this day as day of love or the February as the month of love. or people often dubbed as feb-ibig.

People used to celebrate this with their family, sweethearts, and friends in different places possible.  And because of this we try to value ourselves , we share the love to anyone we pleased.

Valentine's day was came from the name of a saint called Valentine. He was a Christian priest,a martyr, was died on February 14th 269 AD.
He was popularized as a saint of LOVE and lovers.

IN 3rd century under emperor Claudius , when he is forming a great army, but men who were married don't want to leave their wives to fight for a war hence he decided to not to permit marriages anymore as to deter and not to hinder his plan for building forces . Valentine however as a priest continued celebrating marriage ceremony. His favorite activity as a priest is to marry a couples. He does this in secret. But one night he was caught when he was conducting a ceremony he then sent in prison and was sentenced to death.

He was visited by young ones and throws up flowers and notes in his window. There was one young lady, a daughter or a prison guard who happened to be a friend to Valentine, they often talk to each for hours in prison.

When Valentine was about to die he wrote a note to his friend thanking for her friendship and loyalty. He signed it saying "Love from your Valentine".

That note started the tradition of exchanging messages on Valentine's day.

In 496 A.D Pope Gelasius set aside February 14th  to honor saint Valentine.

How are you gonna spend Valentine's day with your loved ones?
