Tamilok , an edible worm from mangrove park of Aklan

Image
Tamilok A challenge of eating wood worm.. What an edible worm. You might heard this or even eat this very exotic food fresh all the way from the mud. It looks like a shipwrecked worm where they live in the wood under water. During our tourguide training , part of this previlige I and my co tourguides had an experience of eating this worm. This is silky, tastes like an oyster worm is a challenge. I never heard of this before or ate until I became a part of tourguideship. At first I was reluctant to eat since the tamilok should be taken alive from the piece of wood which was soaked under the mud from where the tamilok produces. One of the demonstrators took out a piece of wood from the mud, and broke it with the axe where tamilok were hidden and pull it up from its hole. He cleaned it up , removed its internals from its belly, washed it and then put it to the bowl with vinegar. That was raw!  He encouraged us to eat it as it is. and it suddenly shrinks me off like I w...

Paper hearts

Image
Valentine's day  Many of us celebrates Valentine's day that falls on February 14th.  I remember when i was in high school we used to draw hearts on a card board and color it with red and with different sizes. Each one will define his drawn heart. And he /she choose to dedicate the heart to his/her to anyone whom he liked and loved. This was one of the things i learned about Valentines.  Aside from of course the common practice , dating or courting. Everyone knows how they will define this occasion by many means. People marks this day as day of love or the February as the month of love. or people often dubbed as feb-ibig. People used to celebrate this with their family, sweethearts, and friends in different places possible.  And because of this we try to value ourselves , we share the love to anyone we pleased.  Valentine's day was came from the name of a saint called Valentine. He was  a Christian priest, a martyr,  was...

The Elemental creatures, an encounter!

Image
The tree When I was a kid I used to play under the big tree not too far from our house. It was around 9 in the morning after playing alone I sat under a big tree. Suddenly I heard a voice behind the tree where I sat. I searched where the voice came from but I saw nothing. Then I went back to where I sat before and heard again a voice of a man just behind me but no one else was in there. I never felt anything scary but I was wondering what it was or who was it? I looked around searched high and low but nothing was present in there. No matter what it is, I am sure someone was hidden in my sight and that he sees me around playing under that tree. A serpent with a glowing head I and my cousin were playing in their house.  All day long we were together until I realized I had to go home. It was past 6 o'clock in the evening. While on my way home I took a short cut where I passed in a shrubs and trees when suddenly I saw a little snake swerving across the path wa...

9 THINGS THAT MAKE GOOD EMPLOYEES QUIT.  by: Renziboi / huffingtonpost.com  It is pretty incredible how often you hear managers about their best employees leaving, and they really do have something to complain about --few things are as costly and disruptive as good people walking out the door. Managers tend to blame their turn over problems on everything under the sun, while ignoring the crux of the matter: PEOPLE DON'T LEAVE JOBS: THEY LEAVE MANAGERS/SUPERVISORS.  The sad thing is that this can be easily avoided. All that is required is anew perspective and some effort on the manager or supervisor's part. first, we need to understand the nine worst things that managers do that sends good people packing.  1. They overwork people.  Nothing burns good employees out quite like overworking them. It is so tempting to work your best people hard that managers frequently fall into trap. Overworking good employees is perplexing; it makes them fee...

ASH WEDNESDAY

Image
ASH WEDNESDAY "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return." This what the priest who administers one was saying as he dabs his finger on the forehead.   Ash Wednesday opens lent, a season for fasting and prayer. This is a time for us Christians to observe a period of fasting, repentance, moderation, self-denial and spiritual discipline. Reflection on Jesus Christ who saved us from our sins, from the dangers of hell. Because of  his great suffering and sacrifice, his life, death, burial, and resurrection we had been bought with a great price. A christian tradition of turning away from sin and back to GOD. Christ himself said that his disciples would fast.  Fasting is devoting your time in which we abstain from food, or other pleasures, and take the time to focus on God.  We are living in this world in which we are uncertain. What would be our life after death. Or is their to expect life than this life and what would that be.We ...
